Correct. She doesn't understand and/or have enough suction to use a straw yet. That's why I need a squeezable cup, to give her a helping hand as she learns to use the straw. Snipping the straw isn't going to help, because the straw becomes too short and drops into the cup. Tried it already. There is also the concern she'll bite a short straw and accidentally swallow it before my wife or I can get it away from her.
