Exactly why when I purchased my personal '13 Macbook Pro Retina 15" that one of the basic parameters was 16 gigs of RAM. The SSD is upgradeable, but you can't upgrade the RAM. Same goes for the '15 Macbook Pro 13" Retina I bought as my home office/travel office machine. Upgradeable storage but non-upgradable RAM. So, 16 gigs became the minimum.
