If the Volt is running, it has to power all the on-board computers, other electronics and the two dash displays and who knows what else. I wouldn't want to have to turn the Volt on and off whenever I wanted to use the WiFi. And, no, I am not about to test it. In addition, my wife drives the car to work while I remain at home dispensing my meager and often erroneous wisdom on forums like this.
