I made a trek to a Costco Monday morning for provisions and planned on trying Apple Pay.
They didn't replace their POS terminals, but added an NFC reader to the top edged of the terminal. It has the 'radio wave' icon and shows 'Tap to Pay'.
I used my Watch and both the rear and Watch acknowledged my attempt to use Apple Pay. But it didn't work. I tried twice but the reader showed 'Invalid PIN'. So Costco, along with some other vendors, require a PIN with it. Not a problem.
The problem, however, is the reader doesn't ask for a pin. It immediately replies with 'Invalid PIN' skipping the step where the PIN is requested. My non-NFC card work fine.
All give them a call later and see what they have to say.
