Just a follow up to this thread. Everything worked super easily!
Bought the iPhone SE in store at BB for $150. Walked out with a sealed phone not activated. At home backed up my current iPhone 5 (via iCloud and computer), powered it down then swapped the sim from it to the new SE. Fired it up the SE, went through the start up process then did an update. After update completed, I did a restore from my iPhone 5 backup via iCloud (tried via computer first but got an error). Once restore was complete, everything works just fine on the new phone.
Now have a "prepaid" iPhone SE working on my existing regular/post paid AT&T account. Just need to decide if I now want to shift the family over to a prepaid account which would save money.
