My wife’s AT&T SIM worked in her new prepaid phone for 2 days then stopped working until I sent that email.
When the restriction first t happened, my wife went to an AT&T store who had no idea what was wrong. We purchased it from Best Buy.
When I sent the email, we received the text then next day and the SIM card worked again.
I think that was a different problem, Best Buy wasn't correctly recording the serial numbers at check-out on some phones. I had that happen on one of my BB phones. At check-out they scanned the UPC a second time instead of the SN on the package. AT&T suspended my service after a few hours using that phone. I called AT&T customer service and they were able to re-activate me, said the reason showing had something to do with needing to accept terms and conditions. But I still had a BB receipt that didn't show the SN of the phone I purchased and I expected that this might cause more problems with AT&T in the future (or even AppleCare), not being able to show proof that I purchased that phone on that date, so I got BB to exchange it (due to their error, no restocking fee), and watched them carefully scan the SN bar code on the new phone.
So I really had 3 of the BB phones, but one was returned. There was a 4th one too, I ordered online for store pickup, but used a virtual credit card number to purchase, turns out that it's impossible to pick up an order if paid for with a virtual CC at BB. Never got to even touch that phone.
