When the grandkids came over and got excited about the rotary phone we were using. They just had to call somebody every time they came over. Interesting that they knew the number to dial! For that matter grandson #1 got excited about my Marantz cassette player.
First occurrence was seeing the ANTIQUE license plate on a VW bug.
Next was when I was administering AP exams for the school district. The international science fair was in town and I included those kids in my test rooms. One girl did not have her AP book with that year's particular number so she called her counselor back home. I did not even have access to a phone let alone one readily at hand. The very thought of calling school back home told me where I was in the scheme of things.
