It's impossible to know, he certainly did have a caring family who are overwhelmed by grief and bewildered at what he did, as he acknowledged just before he crashed the plane into Ketron Island and died.

I know one thing, he was underpaid in that job. The service agents do have security clearance to be where he was, and inside the planes. They make less than $15/hour, which is minimum wage in the city of SeaTac but airline employees are exempt from that. So people selling fast food inside the airport make more than the people who move planes around and ensure the safety of airline passengers. That's not right.
