Leveling gutters last afternoon, up a good 25' on my 30' extension ladder. Everything is fine, Then I had to come down and move the ladder. And ended up toppling it over and it landed partially on my head !
My son brought me an ice pack, I iced it down to avoid a bump, put on a hard hat and continued on. And realized I needed to actually climb up the roof for the next part. It's a reasonably steep roof. I changed into hiking boots. Climbed the ladder. And thought about it. And thought about it. And came back down. The last time I did that I had to have my wife bring a smaller ladder around the back of the house so I could get down off a lower section of the roof. Because I can't move my arm well enough to get back on the ladder.
And today I'm popping Advil like crazy because my head and neck hurt like heck.
I think maybe I should hire someone to do this job. Get the gutter set properly, and get those gutter screens installed.
Not sure if you're too old. Only you can really make that decision.
However, don't wear hiking boots on the roof. Wear sneakers. Spent a lot of time on roofs when I worked for a painter as well as replacing more roofs than I care to remember. Boots tend to have much less flex than sneakers and grip the roof better.
