I have yet to hear anything bad about Amazon that:
-Is true
-Is not true of other places
-Is not something other places wish they could do and often eventually start doing
-Isn't due to a third party and often ends up being fixed down the road

Meanwhile their customer service goes way above anywhere else. The Mrs bought a pair of headphones for me. There was an issue with one ear pad. She got a great deal. They were out of stock. They offered to refund the full retail price so we could buy a replacement from the mfg, even though that was 2x what we paid.

-is true
Their search results are the worst in the industry. They know it. I think they let third parties screw with it on purpose because it means people spend more time on the website. It may be something that other places wish they could do, but nobody has done it yet. It looks like they partly fixed my pet peeve in the last couple of weeks but it is still salted with wrong results (512gb usb 3 flash drives).

I still occasionally like going to a store and buying something today. They are slowly killing that off. The customer service usually fixes problems in the end, but I would really prefer getting the order right the first time. I have a hard time believing it's really cheaper for them to fix problems after a sale, instead of getting it right the first time. My time is something I value enough to avoid their hassle.

Best Buy seems to be the only national chain left where you can go and listen to speakers.

Even Fry's is a ghost of what it was

Fry's had a chance but they blew it, remember this?

Borders (and B&N) were responsible for putting a lot of good bookstores out of business.
