On several occasions over the years I've gone into walmart for something pretty routine and found the peg for the one thing I need empty. I've seen that same peg stay empty for months. That never happens at Amazon.

Righteous boycotts will go nowhere. Catalog, stock and price are king.

Agreed. Walmart's ability to keep things in stock, without having huge warehouses crammed with stuff, was their original genius. Given that Walmart built its business on high-tech inventory control, it feels like they are slipping.

And Walmart regularly drives me crazy with web links which give the name of what I'm looking for - but then take me to something else, or say it's discontinued. Target does the same thing. This behavior is driving me away from these stores online. Amazon does it some, but not nearly as boldly, or badly. Had this happen with Walmart today, shopping for a specific brand and model of car cabin air filter - the Walmart link had the name and part number, but then Walmart only had another brand. That's deceptive. Used to be called "bait and switch", and I thought was illegal.

And on a related topic, I miss decent price comparison sites. PriceGrabber used to be able to find comparison prices for most anything. Now I waste time just trying to find out if a site actually carries the product I'm looking for. The reverse of progress.

Good luck.
