Start over fresh and move on.
Good advice. It'll take more time - possibly - but it's probably time to get rid of some of the software that's been picked up over time and rarely if ever gets used. Plus, the "old" system and its associated "old" software will still be available on the original drive and can be used by starting up from that drive.
