Kelly denies it. He'll go down with the ship.
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly says he never called the president 'an idiot' and an account in which he's said to have made the remark that's in famed Watergate reporter Bob Woodward's new book is 'total BS.'
'The idea I ever called the President an idiot is not true,' Kelly said in a fiery statement put out by the White House.
He reasserted a prior claim that he and Trump have an 'incredibly candid and strong relationship, saying, 'He always knows where I stand, and he and I both know this story is total BS.'
'I'm committed to the President, his agenda, and our country,' he said. 'This is another pathetic attempt to smear people close to President Trump and distract from the administration’s many successes.'
