You don't have to sit tight. The seller is responsible for getting that item into your hands. If it doesn't make it, he's at fault (that's the way ebay sees it). If it's one day past its due date, you can file a claim with ebay stating that you haven't received it. The process will take some time, but will absolutely end in your favor.
Lost USPS packages is tricky. If it wasn't delivered to a wrong address, they USUALLY reappear and eventually get delivered. You might consider calling the Post Office where the package was last scanned and tell them the story. I recently saw a package heading my way, but in Texas it went back and forth between two POs for a week then stopped moving altogether. Then was delivered a week later ????
