Love those long (or short) solstice days. Christmas is in December mainly because the church wanted to co-opt pagan mid-winter festivals. Without the connection to Passover, maybe Easter would have ended up as a mid-summer celebration.
Does seem odd that we start the season of summer when technically we are half way through the longest days of the year. The temperature lag has it getting warmer as the days get shorter.
