I do make a distinction between “he did something wrong” (which I haven’t claimed) and “I think Trump’s basically OK, so criticism of him —- and me — is wrong (which I think Tito thinks). I’m not clear on why the family’s grief can’t be allowed alongside the political choices they make. He can take all the space and time he needs or wants and of course I’d never claim he shouldn’t do that.
But I grow tired of people willingly step into controversy publicly and then ask, hey, allow our participation in it to be uncontroversial. That is not only unrealistic, it’s unfair to the public who got exposed to it and naturally see a broader picture here.
