Cheating, plus most schools ban cellphones in the classroom. And having every kid have the same thing that is tried and true makes teaching it a lot easier especially when the instructions in the text book are specific to that model calculator.
Even adults can't figure out how to translate from instructions on something in Safari and figure out how to do it in Chrome. Nope, you have to do a set of instructions for every browser showing them exactly where to click. Because figuring out that Preferences and Settings might contain the same things is too much to ask.
