I've been thinking about getting one as well. Well, another one - I had bought a really cheap one from the local Microsoft Store in 2015

But the Windows version is 32 bit and, apparently, to run any modern software now it needs to be 64 bit.
I spent the weekend upgrading it from Windows 7 to 10, thinking it would upgrade it to 64 bit, but it didn't. Oh well
Anyway, I'm looking at a used Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I've always liked the build quality of Thinkpads (my brother in law used to use them for his work) and I actually like the little red nipple in the middle of the keyboard too
Problem is that Carbon is pretty expensive, so finding a good deal on a used one will take some effort
Stay the away from the 1st and 2nd gens. I have 200ish of the 2nd gen X1 Carbon at work that we just replaced with MacBook Airs. They were horrible machines. Super Flakey, logic board problems, bad drivers, problems connecting to mutiple monitors. The 3rd and 4th gen aren't too bad. I have about 40 of those we are hanging on to.
