......got free 30 days of AcornTV when it came out on Roku.....I literally only watched one maybe 2 shows........mostly filled with older British content [ from like 10 years ago ].......very little new stuff but no need to subscribe if you don't like old stuff.....
....got DirectTV Now with the $5 HBO [ which you can no longer get as they changed plans ].......for the most part good but occasional glitches but the $5 HBO allows for new movies and HBO TV shows [ wish I had gotten the cheaper SHO too but DirecTV gave no notice ].....
.....got the 99 cent Hulu deal......Hulu has a lot of older shows and smaller new movies but it is good for old TV shows, some original Hulu content, international TV shows, and they get new movies but mostly smaller 'independent' like movies.......they get bigger studio movies but only 'older ones'........
.....Netflix fills in the gap of original Netflix stuff, international stuff, and movies......
......at some point, I pretty sure AT&T will get rid of DirecTV Now so that may disappear soon.......
.....with the Apple TV there is a lot of free TV apps: PlutoTV, Tubi, Sony Crackle, etc........Roku has Roku channel which has old TV shows and movies.....
....PBS app is free but you has to be Passport member to get access to everything on demand which requires a donation, worth it if you like PBS programming [ most of it is locked down unless you are Passport member ]........
....use OTA for basic/local channels.......library for free DVDs for new movies.......
....I don't think Amazon Prime is worth it, had free membership and mostly old content, yes they have huge library but mostly 'older' content.......they have their original shows, which if you like might be worth it......if you have Amazon Prime anyway, then the video library is a bonus......if you don't use the membership, then the video library is not worth it......
