With more and more the the original Amazon being converted to farming (and other activities that reduce the forests there), repopulating unused acreage with new trees could be a real boon for the environment. Then, years (decades?) down the road, selective harvesting and replanting could begin, returning at least some of his original investment. Maybe that takes to much foresight?
