If bluetooth is OK, there are several options.
If you really want to stay w/ wired, I've had outstanding luck w/ Betron earbuds....
These are excellent, great bass and isolation, but may not fit smaller ears well. Need to adjust fit so body of earbud doesn't contact ear, which may become uncomfortable after awhile. If your ears are accommodating, these are great all around choice.
These are great sounding, good all around fit, just need to find best angle for your ears. These are my go-to faves, and have made believers out of everybody that's tried them. Since these aren't angled, you need to point the earbud's opening down your ear canal for total appreciation.
Not quite as full body sounding as the Betron's, these Marsno M2's are super comfortable for more ears, and isolate sound as well as any non-active noise cancellation earphones I've tried. For just conversations, these are gonna be hard to beat. If you're inclined to want to use them for music/video, etc., stick to the Betron's.
I was a boom mic fanboy for over 30 years, and transitioned to earbuds just a few years ago. The buds have really gotten better, both for listening and speaking, so much so, that I don't miss the boom mic anymore.
