As of this morning, a little over 2 million confirmed cases and almost 130,000 deaths. That works out to a roughly 6.5% fatality rate, a lot higher than the 1-2% rate bandied about a month or two ago. Is anybody in government/media discussing this alarming figure?
Until we actually have surveillance sampling in place where cases are reported (weeks and months away in many spots), we won't know what the broader infection rate is. We should not assume that 'confirmed cases' in any way approximates total cases.
