Is this the USB C 3.1 Gen 2 SSD drive enclosure I'm looking for? Only $15

D4,

If you’re just trying to save money, yes, it’s less expensive for more storage. However, you’re paying a very significant price for that savings in performance. An NVME M.2 drive even in a USB 3.1 Gen 2 box will blow the doors off any 2.5” SSD in a USB 3.1 Gen 2 box. What is your goal? You didn’t address it in your question and it definitely is a key factor here.

Robert

The main purpose of the external drive is to use it store about 500GB of personal photos and videos. With lots of room for futureproofing. It's not just an archive. But to use it as the Photos App main library. I want to to be able to go in there through Photos and scan and edit (through Photos) on the fly. A big pet peeve of mine is scrolling through decade old images in Photos and getting delays. I want it snappy snappy quick.

I'm all for paying more for quality and speed. But 40% more is quite a bit more.
