I remember you mentioning the Pluggable.
I only used that particular example because I like the finned aluminum heat-sink design.
A box like that would be strapped to the iMac's stand as an additional heat-sink.
There's an Icy Box in similar design, could be the same manufacturer, but that design would be my preference.
B&H has the 1TB SanDisk Extreme Pro for $140, and the 2T for $184, 'tax free' if you have their PayBoo card.
B&H also has the Crucial MX500 2T for $230, hence my comparison question.
These seem like decent prices combined with the $15 box d4 mentions.
I am leaning towards an overkill USB-C 3.1/NMVE setup because of the possibility of a little more speed (which I may not see).
I'm in line for a Envoy Express for my 2018 mini.
At some point down the road, I'll look for a 2880 solution.
