Where are the safe guards of our democracy?
#13
The Oregon congressional delegation has been screaming. But the media does not really care. Merkley and Wyden are well respected, but they have been anti Trump and anti police tactics for long before this....so their views are discounted. The media want to see the other side protest the actions. That gives it credibility.

But MAGAs.

To carry on with Lemon's list of guardrails, the biggest one is....

Norms. The idea that there are certain rules of the road and certain lines not to be crossed. What we have learned is that we have so many of these, and not nearly enough real laws. The reason is that the system was designed so that if a president violated the norms voters would care. It would mean norms were self reinforcing.

But the MAGAs love the fact that Trump violates the norms, from pussy grabbing to firing FBI directors to bribing Ukrainians. I know it is impolitic and a bunch of you'all might jump me but a big part of the problem is that 30-odd percent of our fellow Americans are, well, deplorable.
