The tv news showed the clip and reported that the cop said he was afraid for his own safety, so he drove off while surrounded by the crowd. If he drove into and through the crowd, that is one thing. If the crowd surrounded him and started smashing his windows, that is another thing. I suspect there will be a pretty thorough investigation, but we will have to wait and see even about that.
