There’s really no need to make excuses for him. Something bad happened right in front of him. He clearly saw it. He was just too sauced to give the best possible response.

Sh*t happens. It’s not like he was there providing security. Embarrassing, sure, but there’s no reason to think he was intentionally being a dork. Wrong time, wrong place.
