About 15 years ago I was on a work trip in a rental car when the OnStar started ringing with an incoming call. It was a college admissions office asking me when I wanted to set up an in-person visit. I had no idea what they were talking about, and finally managed to splutter, "Ma'am, this is a rental car!" (Which, of course, thoroughly confused the person on the other end.)
Apparently some kid had given more than one college the wrong phone number... and it was the number of that car's OnStar link. Made me wonder how often that kind of thing happened to bemused GM owners and/or renters...
