I doubt it was documenting Hypercard in 1983, the idea for it didn't even happen until 1985 and it was released in 1987. In 1983 in might have been MacPaint or MacWrite that needed documentation since they were released in Jan 1984. Or this didn't happen in 1983 and was closer to 1987.
I purchased my first Mac in March 1985, a Mac 512k, with a second floppy drive and an ImageWriter printer. Cost almost $3K.
