As with everything else, the polarization here is amazing.
I was looking at the twitter feed from one of the health guys (Jha maybe?) who was commenting positively on the new CDC guidance. And on the need to get ready for the next variant, etc.
The comments from the crazy were AMAZING. Only it was not the MAGA crazy. It was the absolutist, everyone-should-be-locked-down-until-there-are-no-cases crowd. Just astonishing to me how nasty and aggressive these people are. Their core argument is that many folks are compromised in some way so we should all happily lock down to protect them. For as long as it takes. Their lack of thinking clearly about how the world works--even just getting food into stores--is troubling. But their ability to be nasty is very robust.
I considered myself on that "side" of things. I am surprised at how willing we are to accept 2k deaths a day. My lovely wife and I have yet to go anywhere or eat out. Masks everywhere. I get the sense that MRF is closer to this than MAGAworld.
But this was so extreme that I was stunned.
You could not pay me enough to be a local public official right now.
