It is not that expensive to ship it with a USB-A to A cable, and a USB-C to A...
Since Wi-Fi 6 has superseded Wi-Fi 5, I don't see not supporting Wi-Fi 5 as important unless someone can prove it absolutely blocks use of that band/protocols.
The line that stood out to me is: "...the device only uses the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band,..." Maybe they have found it is less congested for some low bandwidth devices....
