I was planning on taking the noisy optical drive out altogether but I broke the little plastic housing/socket thingy on the other side of the power button. No more power to the emac. She's not that upset, as she got a new Macbook at work, but I feel terribly about it.
I offered to give her my iBook and go buy a Macbook Pro, but she shot it down (dammit!).
It's just a teeny little part...I can't believe I messed it up to the point of not being able to start the computer. I guess I'll check ebay a bunch and see if I can find a replacement housing to try to fix the thing.
