My go to basic chili recipe.
Wendy’s Chili
SERVINGS 12
YIELD 1 big potful
* 2 lbs ground beef, cooked
* 1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
* 1 (29 ounce) can kidney beans (with liquid)
* 1 (29 ounce) can pinto beans (with liquid)
* 1 cup diced onion (1 medium onion)
* 1/2 cup diced green chili pepper (2 chilies) or one can of La Preferida Mild Green Chiles
* 1/4 cup diced celery (1 stalk)
* 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
* 2 -3 teaspoons cumin powder depending on how much you like
* 3 tablespoons chili powder
* 1-1/2 teaspoons black pepper
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 2 cups water
Simmer at least 2 hours.
Pro tip. Leftover already grilled hamburgers are awesome in this, gives more flavor. And a former Wendys employee told me that they did that frequently anyways.
It's a really solid chili.
