Celebrating Chicago Style

One difficulty in dealing with these lists is that I don't know precisely what they are supposed to represent. I'm guessing that the times and addresses are self explanatory, and that M/34 refers to a 34 year old male who suffered a gunshot wound. If that is the case, then the caption ought to be provided so we can understand. What's also missing is the extent of the wound, assuming a wound is what we are talking about.

But perhaps these lists do not necessarily refer to gunshot wounds, but merely to people suspected of brandishing or discharging a firearm. That would be a different situation, albeit uncomfortable.

So what are these numbers? I assume we can consider them not to be deaths from gunshot wounds.

As an aside, I would like to point out that I find that number of shootings (of whatever variety) to be horrid and frightful, even if no assault weapon was involved. If it's hand guns, we ought to call out handguns for being among the worst offenders in our society.

This is a list of people shot that day. Not necessarily killed, most survive.
Hang guns are by far the weapons of choice for killing others, even mass shootings, hand guns are used a majority of the time. AR-15s are used in a small percentage of both murders and mass shootings
