Yeah, I have vague recollections of pre-OS X. When I got into Macs, 7.5 was what I started on. I was perusing https://infinitemac.org/1996/System%207.5.3 a couple of months ago and was somewhat lost. I guess it's true that if you don't use it, you lose it.
So, this current G4 PowerMac is actually for my son, who is into nostalgia. He has installed OS 9 (from some of my old software I kept for some reason) and wants to put some old games on it. Unfortunately, I got rid of all of my old ram when we moved a few years ago. And, like a fool, even sold my 17" iLamp on the cheap (even had the round transparent speakers that went with it).
Since OS 9 will only utilize 1.5gb of memory, it may be pointless to max this thing out. Speed's ram will probably be more than enough. Heck, the 512mb currently in the machine will most likely run most games from the OS 9 days!
