GUN OWNERSHIP IS A MENTAL ILLNESS.

GUN OWNERS ARE MENTALLY INCAPABLE OF PERCEIVING THE DANGER THEY ARE TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.

I am as pro gun control as you can get.

But, this is utter nonsense. Though I can understand the sentiment.

In all probability most, likely the large majority, gun owners do not have any mental illness; at least directly connected to gun ownership.

Demonization is the currency of the far right, and damaging to the process of finding a real solution.

Gun owners have a socialization towards firearms that is at odds with that of many, but in most cases is not entirely without a defensible (not to say entirely correct from my point of view) basis, until taken to the extreme.

By my estimation, like so many things of late, the dysfunction there is within the larger cohort is brought about by the continuous stoking and relentless amplification of the most extreme and blindered end of the gun ownership spectrum. Perpetrated by those whose real interests are voracious greed and, for some, finding a solid foothold/constituency to use in the amassing of power, political and otherwise.

The result, make no mistake, is a deafening cacophony of a distorted, cancerous advocacy of an agenda that delivers a shattering harvest of destruction and harm and tragedy and death to this country.

That din must be ignored and an end brought to the sickening deep corruption of the landscape of gun ownership in this country.
I agree with this sentiment, too. My issue is with the gunners refusal to be well regulated; the knee-jerk reaction against any gun legislation.
