Which sheds some light on the real reason most people buy a truck anyway...for its looks. Very few buy one on a rational basis. For example I counted almost 80 pickups while driving to the grocery store the other day (and that's just during the drive there, not back). During that 5 mile / 10 minute drive, not one was towing anything or had something in the bed. They were all late model vehicles.
I often do the same. I almost never see a pickup with anything in the back, and when I do it is almost always a junker with a trailer doing lawn work or another junker work vehicle. I do see some super decked out huge tire jacked up work trucks, but I doubt those last long (gas mileage, expense of tires, etc.). Not practical. Life's too short to drive a truck around, unless you truly have to.
