Another TIL: leave-in conditioner

Back from the dermatologist a little while ago. In the course of chatting, I mentioned my dry scalp. He checked and didn't see anything of concern, but mentioned I might benefit from dandruff shampoo and something called leave-in conditioner. I'm embarrassed to say I rarely use any kind of conditioner, but when I do, my experience has always been to apply after shampooing, leave it in for several minutes, then rinse out. Apparently this is stuff that you don't rinse out. He mentioned I can get it at any hair salon, but cheap bastid that I am, I'm more inclined to hit Target or CVS.

Any recommendations for a particular brand of this 'product' that I don't have to take out a loan for at a salon? Or is it pretty much all the same? Thanks.
