Yup, Outback is like a "lifted" wagon, although it's "big". Lots of rear legroom and cargo space, but it just feels "big" to me when I drive the in-laws' (but our daily drivers are 2-door Minis...).
Volvo should still have the V60 and V90 Cross Country wagons, although at a much higher price point.
I had a rental Mazda CX-9 once, which was nice, but I thought the cargo space was lacking for a vehicle of its size. Not sure how the CX-5/50 compare, but I'm skeptical that Mazda prioritizes exterior styling over interior space.
