there should be a counterweight (or a Spring?) behind the frame that should hold the window up. When I bought the house and we had 35 year old windows, some of the windows had this problem, but instead of fixing them, since we had some rot, ad replaced and used energy efficient windows.
looking at your windows, it seems they are vinyl or fiberglass and I think the principle is the same but I am not sure how you would open the frame to replace the broken spring. maybe search for clues on YouTube?
