Think of how bad the sitting president was, the candidate was, their decisions were
#5
That’s nonsense.

Biden was empirically more successful than Trump in nearly every way statistically and otherwise, except for a transient and worldwide post-pandemic bout of inflation that was identical to our peers. And Biden beat him before.

That said, Biden was replaced, and stepped down as gracefully (albeit reluctantly) as a politician can. So we got Harris, who was eminently qualified - and moreso than most my-personal-favorite cadidates.

That Harris didn’t have enough time is nonsense as well - her polling numbers were highest at first and after the convention, until the Repubs recrafted their message to cultural issues to attack her, and her numbers went down.

I preferred that Biden pass the torch - I always felt that way - I think both he and Trump were too old (and one was crazy to boot). But he didn’t, and he won the primaries. Don’t complain about smoke-filled rooms and pre-determined results if you didn’t vote in the primaries.

Finally, I will reiterate: Biden was old; he spoke poorly, and had a gait problem. All these things were true when he beat Trump in 2020. There is no evidence for, and plenty of evidence against, medical conditions that developed between 2020 and 2024. (FWIW, prostate cancer, even when widely metastatic, rarely involves the brain.)

Dems love to blame themselves. But the only blame for the real mess we find each other today is Trump and the people that voted for him.
