Where to dump construction matierials?

I'm getting nowhere with Google, YellowPages, or my Mayor's telephone service. This is a small trailer load of broken down drywall. We knocked out a wall and I want to get rid of the remnants. Can I haul such a thing to the doorstep of a landfill? I would consider a dumpster except this is a one-time load, too small for a dumpster, but too big for my garbage cans.
