Evaporative (Swamp) Cooler Installation

This is my first house and it came with one. The previous owners had it in a window resting on a wooden frame they created. I want to put it in another window though and have seen where people hang them up with a couple of chains with hooks drilled into the side of their house. Is that all the support they really need?
