Reminds me of the time I had to record the "king" who was doing the voice for a spot for the local Renaissance Faire. He was..shall we say...corpulent, and as he walked toward us down the long hallway to the studio, his presence was sensed well in advance of his being.
I took a deep breath and hustled him into the booth, walked into the control room and told the producer "We're doing one take." Did it, took another deep breath and escorted him out of the booth. As soon as he left, I soaked a paper towel in ammonia and tossed it in the booth and closed the door for the rest of the day.
It seemed to work, but I'm willing to bet the smell was the same as your guy.
