You could technically plug it in but it won't work, the serial number of the modem has to be input in to the database at the office before the system will recognize it. It has to be "provisioned" at the main office, when you get a "Do it yourself" cable modem, all that info is already in the system.
Why do you need, or even want two modems?
They will charge you for two lines.
