Racer X, well, I can't really take a kitty myself at this point, but it was easy enough for me to suggest to the bro and his fiancée; and since they are in Baltimore, it made sense to pass the info on, when I saw Gutie's post. Their other cat was actually also a rescue from the fiancée's mother-- a very friendly orange tabby who had lost his tail as a result of some horrible abuse by a bunch of schoolkids. They really wanted him to have some company, and this seemed a fine way to do it. From what I've heard, the two cats are even getting along well with each other so far...
What I did hear from my bro about the history was that this particular kitty-- they couldn't believe it-- had been adopted previously, but given up by the previous owner after a year or less. Don't recall what he said the exact reason was... it does seem that people give up cats for some pretty inane reasons.
