I have a friend who volunteers in greyhound adoption, and she says that so many people don't care a whit about the personality of the dog, they want a designer dog--usually the white with grey spots. She just got a black dog a year or so ago (black is the least popular color) who had been horribly treated at the track. With a lot of love and attention, he's turned into a lovely, affectionate and eccentric boy (he ate my reporter's credentials--I had to go back to the police to get them replaced. They thought it was hilarious.)
