Why ka jot, are you implying that all calicos are pretty, or that they are all females? While I'd generally agree with the former, I'm pretty sure the latter is definitely false... X-chromosome inactivation... calico males are bicolor, calico females are tricolor; excepting the possibility of intersex animals. Oh, and about the inane "reasons that people return pets" -- I had gotten the impression in this case that it was that the previous owners had just not had a good 'fit' with this particular cat, or something similar, or possibly an allergy issue. That seems to be a pretty common reason...
