Network Switch Problem

I would say you should not have the router connected to the Linksys through the uplink port.

But, what you should be doing is just connect the router to one switch, preferably the faster one, then connect the other switch (linksys) to the first switch. In this way computers connected to either switch will be part of the same network and will not have to navigate through the router to talk with each other, and will still share the same internet connection.

As far as connecting switches in this configuration, you should connect the uplink port from the Linksys to any port on the D-link.
