Good cheap vegetarian protein source?

TVP has been around for years. I have added it to chili and to marinara sauce, and to sloppy joe sauce. The only thing to take into consideration is the texture, so foods that have a similar texture, like in Sloppy Joes are ideal.

TVP is a main component to hamburger helper AFAIK. Great way to add protein without fat. Trader Joe's even sold a Veg Sloppy Joe mix that was TVP based, ad was quite good. But in typical Trader Joe's fashion, it was discontinued even though it was a very popular item.

A local small independant chain of grocery stores sells it in their bulk section. And a lb oif that stuff is a huge quantity. It has a slightly nutty flavor, so something flavorfull and hearty does a great job of masking it.
